Donating food clothing and other non food items

While, all donations you gives us are very much appreciated the items below are most useful to us.

Food donations

Every day Drop-In is open, we provide a meal created from donated food. Particular items we use are:

  • Tea, coffee, sugar
  • Tinned meat and tuna
  • Tinned vegetables (not potatoes)
  • Jarred sauces
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Tinned pies eg Fray Bentos
  • Baked beans
  • Rice and pasta
  • Fruit squash
  • Multipack crisps
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned desserts eg sponges
  • Custard

Foods high in sugar can particularly help people struggling with cravings from any sort of addiction – and are a also a welcome treat for any visitors to Drop-In!

  • Small chocolate bars
  • Sweets
  • Biscuits

Fresh food donations are really appreciated. Some people offer pre-prepared meals which we can warm up in our oven and hob if necessary. Our fridge and storage space is very limited so please contact us beforehand to arrange fresh food deliveries to avoid waste. These additional items can come in useful:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Ready-prepared meals
  • Eggs
  • Milk

Please note all food donations must be within their Use By Date.

Clothes & non-food items

For our homeless guests and Drop-Inners:

  • Coats
  • Jeans, trousers
  • T-shirts
  • New or freshly cleaned sleeping bags
  • Thermal socks (new only)
  • New men’s boxer style underwear
  • Scarves and thermal or lined gloves/fingerless gloves (not hand knitted please)
  • Black fleece beanies hats
  • Wet wipes and personal size tissues
  • Small torches – ideally windup
  • Can openers
  • Watertight and clean one or two man tents – used and new
  • Shower gel
  • Deodorant

We cannot take duvets or pillows, but one of our partners, Furnistore will welcome those. See our Find Help page for their details.

Please ensure all clothes are clean and in good condition before donating.
