We’re aware it’s been a while since we gave you an update about where we are with the refurbishment at Shrewsbury Chapel which is going to be home to both the Drop-In and office in the coming months.
Having secured funding for the core works – shower, disabled toilet and enclosed stairs to the upstairs office space – builders have been on site for a couple of months now.
This is very exciting and has only been possible due to the generosity of our supporters like you. We have had people young and old fundraising for us and every donation, however small has helped get us to this point. We have also built new relationships with local businesses, residents and volunteers which has helped further the build as well as the work the Trust does with the homeless those going through tough times in other ways.
There is still fundraising to do. We are currently applying for funding toward the replacement windows and we also need to complete some unexpected work to replace the flat roof – any help toward this would be most welcome.
For those of you who don’t know much about the Chapel, it’s on Shrewsbury Road, just a short walk from Redhill town centre and it’s where we hold the Real Meal Sunday lunch. We took on the leasehold there from the Church Growth Trust in 2017 and have responsibility of all the upkeep of the building. It came with planning permission to complete the core works which will make it fit for purpose to expand the services we can offer our guests at the Drop-In in particular.
Watch this space for a date for an official opening day in mid-November! We hope to see many of you there to celebrate in this milestone of the Charity’s work.
Thank you for all your support. We can do none of this without you. If you would like information about supporting us financially get in touch.
